The past few days have definitely been a good reason to stay in where it is warm and safe. We have gotten blasted with a nasty winter storm. Yesterday we got 4"- 6" of snow on top of what hasn't melted from previous storms. Today we are getting hit with sleet and freezing rain. Yuck to the max.

What I have been working on lately.

First, be sure to head over toWOYWW headquarters and have a peak at everyone's work spaces :) Make sure you have plenty of refreshments handy because it will take a bit to get through them all. Be sure to let the posters know you have been there and had a nosey. We all love the comments :)
Now onto the business at hand :) My newest project is fixing a quilt top that I have had for many moons. It has holes in it and well I love it so much I can't bear to throw it in the trash. It is made of beautiful and funky vintage fabrics. Back in December I saw this post on Smile and Wave and it gave me the inspiration to fix my lovely quilt topper. I am hoping to have it done soon but well my hands get tired and I haven't been doing much with it steadily. And I also signed up for a Valentine swap on Hilltown Families that are due out by the 7th, so I will be working on those the next few days.
Still trying to workout on how to answer comments so you can all see them. Until I figure out how to respond individually I will just do a recap :)
From my 1-23-11 post- Miss Virginia, I am glad to be back in blogland. I didn't know how much I missed it till I started blogging again.As you can see above we have gotten lots and lots of snow. Luckily, I have plenty of projects, food and coffee to keep me busy and warm. One of these fridays I plan on joining in on your Rocking Your World Friday.

Samantha- I need at least 2 pots of coffee to get through the whole list of fellow WOYWWers, but it is just so much fun.
Vickie- I need all the help I can get to gain peace in my little world. After I have read it, I will definitely post what I think about it.
Tracey- Those black bins are empty chocolate drink mix containers that will be turned into banks. I am big on upcycling items that would otherwise be put the trash. I will be sure to share a pic when they are done :)

Hello again :) Wow 2 posts in a week, there might be hope for me after all :) Be sure to hop on over to WOYWW Headquarters :) to have a sneak at everyone's desks. But be warned, it is time consuming, and you can't just look at 1, you just have to keep having a sneak :)
Not much going on my desk this am. But the day is still young. I have been working on my inspire sign for over a week and have not got much done with it. The book is "The Peace Book" by Louise Diamond. Haven't started reading it yet but I am hoping for some insight into some inner issues I have.
Not much of a post for today. I am awaiting a visit from the grand baby :)

We all know that life gets in the way but wow, I didn't realize how long it had been since I blogged. Hoping to blog more this coming year. January has been fun so far haha We celebrated my grand daughters 1st Birthday :) That is her and I in the picture above. That lil girl brings so much joy into this heart of mine.

While going through totes from the basement I hit a goldmine of vintage goodies, including this lovely necklace above. Along with treasures from my childhood that I am so grateful to have now, even though there was no rhyme or reason for me keeping them way back when.

One thing that has not been fun this month is the amount of snow we have gotten. The above picture was taken on 1-12-11 and man it has just continued on a weekly basis. Tomorrow we are due for single digit temps with -30 to lower wind chills. Not my favorite time of the year at all.

Something I miss so much, sunshine :) Looking forward to warmer temps, for sure.

This is what my room looked like a few weeks ago. Total mess and I felt like I hadn't fully moved in, even though we have been here since summer. So, it was time to get busy and get totes and boxes gone through. Took me a while but I got it done and I love having the extra space. Not saying that there are a few boxes that need to finish being organized but it looks so much better in there.

So happy to have found this lace shawl that belonged to my mom. The wall behind my headboard needing a little something and this fit the bill. I love it.

Metal craft shelf reorganized :) The top shelf holds extra page protectors, albums in progress (smaller ones) and extra albums. The middle shelf is negatives and idea and inventory binders. And the bottom shelf is all albums. The wine rack in front is now being used to hold fabric and patterns (even though I have yet to learn how to follow one lol)!!

More re-organization on this shelf. Current projects, idea books, already made cards and other lovely stuff. The chest in front hold unused journals, composition notebooks and sketchbooks.

This is what it looks like in front of the house today. Still piles of snow everywhere and we are expecting another storm this week. Hoping the groundhog does the right thing this year and cuts our winter short :)
Hope to be posting more pics of projects soon. And without such a LONG delay in between.

Dale's sunflower

Finally after way too many months of not having a digital, I have one again and woohoo I'm loving it :) I had to include the above picture. Last school year Dale's class planted sunflower seeds, and he brought home this plant and well, mom had to take care of it. Mom, has been know to have a black thumb lol The flower is alive and well and thriving :) I didn't kill it lol

Not much going on here. I have been working on this recipe box for my oldest, but I am taking my time with it.

I made these a few weeks back, have added a few things here and there but haven't done the journalling yet. One day when I get more than 2 or 3 minutes here and there I will get more done on my journals.

Sorry for the not so good cell phone pics but I still do not have a camera :( Not much going on on my desk this week. I am still in the process of organizing my stuff. It is bothering me NOT to be working on projects lol but I am determine to get this done, so I can be more productive.

After my shelf was put up, it didn't take me long to fill it up. I still need to move some stuff around to get it to where I like it. But it is getting there.

I had to add a pic of this little cubby to show Julia that I do indeed have a journal/notebook obsession. These are all unused and just waiting to either be altered or added to my otherwise extensive journal list.

Sorry, not much to look at this week. Have had a slow time of organizing with meetings, lil man in camp, and job hunting. Hopefully soon I will have fun stuff to share.

This is the left side of my room. It looks a bit different now but this is the pic I took when I first started setting everything up. I still have stuff to put away lol but this will be how it looks for a while.

This is my desk area at the beginning :) The picture boxes are now under the desk.

The finished (well almost) desk area. I am slowly getting things organized and set up. I really haven't been working on too much lately, just playing around in my art journals.

I did make this card for my Bestie :) Tried some new things on it and I am very happy with the results.
Now that we are all moved in and pretty much settled I have set some goals for my crafting space lol I NEED to get my pictures and memorabilia organized and get back to working on my scrapbooks. That and I have a bunch of started projects that aren't finished so I want to get those organized and finished.

Ready to be done

Oh, how I am ready for this move to be over with. And I'm not even done packing yet :( I just want to sit down and work in my art journals and yet, I am stuck going through stuff and packing it away. The pain of it all is, I'm only moving 4 streets over haha. But yet stuff still has to be packed and packed safely so as to not ruin any of my precious crafting materials. Notice how I mention nothing of the rest of the house, just my stuff haha. Although last night I went to roast some zucchini in the oven and didn't have a spice that was needed, why??, because I packed it lol Also packed the piece that goes in my rice cooker to steam veggies. UGH!!! The next couple of weeks can go by very quick so I am done and in the new (old) place and getting settled in.
Explanation on the new (old) place lol Before the kids and I moved to Louisiana we lived in the apt. that we are now moving back into :) This is the neighborhood I grew up in and in some ways it feels as if I am going home. So, yes I am ready to be done.
Still no camera :( Haven't had a chance to get out to Wallyworld to check them out. I am so lost without it. I know I have my cell but, it takes very poor quality pictures.
Ok I just need to vent a little and there is no one around here to vent too :) Back to sorting and packing I go.

WOYWW out of commission

Due to breakage of my camera :*( I have no pictures to post. Am hoping to get to Walmart today and find at least a cheap one for now, I soooooooo miss my camera, I feel like I am missing out on so many picture opportunities. So, until I am able to get a camera, I will be out of commission for WOYWW :( But you can go to Julia our fearless leader's blog :) and take a snoop at everyone else's desks. Be prepared though, you will be there for a long while :)
I have gotten a few scrapbook pages done :) Decided it was high time I got back into doing them as I have pics just sitting in boxes and before the memories fade even more. Wish I could share them with you. I will when I can.
On another note, I will be packing up said crafting supplies to move in a few weeks. I do plan on packing one box with art journal supplies, that way I can have at least one outlet for my creativity. Other than that I am giving myself a few months to get things sorted and truly organized. I have so much stuff that I truly don't know everything anymore.

Memorial Day weekend happenings

Taking it pretty easy this weekend. I completed the right side page yesterday. I like the background so much I did 2 other pages with the same technique. I inked the page then went over it with a baby wipe :) First time doing this and I am liking it :)

I used some paper that I had in my supply along with book pages and a magazine cut out on these 2 pages. Still undecided on how I want to proceed with this one.

The other 2 pages I prepped today. I also made a tag for this page but it was still drying so I didn't take a picture of it.

Today I have spent loving up on this happy, smiling, gorgeous, lovable baby :) I don't get to spend much time with her since they moved to their own place, so Memaw needed some time with her Popeye :) She makes me smile and laugh and I just can't get enough of those chunky little cheeks of hers. It is hard to believe that in 4 days she will be 5 months old. She is rolling all over the place now, has discovered her feet lol and tries to talk aka baby screeches :) Before I know it she will be all grown up and giving her moma all the trouble she can :)

Not too much going on this week on my desk. Doing some prep work on some art journal pages. I paint and decorate then leave them till later (lately it is way later) to journal on. I don't have a distinct purpose for most of the pages I prep, I just do what my mind wants to do at the time :) I seem to use my scrapbook supplies for this more than I use it for scrapbooking.

** I finished the curtains in record time last week. And surprisingly (to me lol) they were even for the most part haha. The son is happy with them so that makes me happy **
Thank you for the comments last week on the little bunny box. As for the scrapbooking, well I have enough supplies sitting around to do many, many more albums. If only I had the inspiration to organize the pictures and actually sit and work on them.
Off, to start my day :) The sun is shining brightly here in Massachusetts and our high today is supposed to be 91, definetly loving it :)

WOYWW (a day late)

I did not forget to post yesterday, I just had no time. Dear son, picked me up early in the am and did not return me to my humble home till 6 pm last night. See, he just moved into a new apartment and needed to go shopping to buy home decor. So, he asked me to go with him. So much fun shopping at the thrift stores for vintagey looking goodies :)

Here is the little box from last weeks post. I changed my mind about using the punched circles to make the bunnies, they wouldn't have looked right. I like this way better.

A card I made on Tuesday. I was just playing around with some stash that I have :) I know the desk is really tidy except that pile on the right.

A little nosey in the top of the built in. This is the bottom and first shelves. This is where I store my albums that have pages I have done. One of these days I will get back to scrapbooking and get them filled :)

The first shelf holds items that I had listed in my Etsy shoppe (that is no longer open, due to circumstances). It also holds a few other things that well I just had not other idea where to put :)

The white box on the right is holding 8.5x11 scrapbook pages that are done. They used to be in binders, then I had a bright idea to convert them all to 12x12 and well, after the binders were given away, I decided to just leave them as is because I had no time to do it.
Not much else going on around here. The next few days will be consumed with making curtains for the dear son :) and some major house cleaning.

Woohoo I made it back again this week :) a wee bit late but still I am here. Not so clean desk this week. I printed out these journalling tags from Creativity Prompt. Avital is gracious enough to share journalling tags for your personal use only.

The second photo is a pillow that I need to finish sewing and my swap project for next month's stamp club meeting. I picked Easter out of the jar lol And in accordance with Virginia's challenge of altering the alterables we have haha I decided to use the little cardboard gifty box that I have had for so many years, I can't even remember lol

Above you can see a page from inside my Quotes notebook. I just write down the ones that I think I will use in my scrapbooking, art journalling or even cardmaking :)

Kinda lets me be a kid again to just go with the flow :) Ya'll did have me wondering what a cotton reel was though :) Then I looked at the picture and realized it was my spools of thread :)
It will probably take me all week to get through the list of desks, I noticed it has grown considerably :)

Not much going on this am. Yesterday I sat and was copying quotes into my quote book. Today I will be going through my "alterable" cabinet to see what I can find to work on and get out of the cabinet, I have enough to keep me busy for a while lol
After a break, due to oldest moving out, rearranging of bedrooms, and just life in general, getting in my way. I am back to posting :)

Lots going on here. Oldest moved out a few weeks ago and I'm adjusting to life without her and the grandbaby here. So, I have been cleaning ALOT!!!! And I am addicted to Facebook games lol.

Other stuff going on too, just not at liberty to say at the moment. Nothing really exciting although I sure wish it was.
Anyway so here are some art journal pages I have been working on. I have gessoed all the pages in my one journal. This is the one made with newspaper. I have tried drawing, like the pic above even though I am not too good at it lol

painted, tissued, and stamped.

painted, and lettered :) Now just to finish them with images and journalling. I am thinking of sitting down and painting a bunch of the pages with different colors that way they are at the ready, when I am.

Ordinary composition notebook that I decorated to be my all in one To Do list spot, instead of grabbing pieces of paper here and there lol. And that way the notes don't get thrown away in case I happen to need them at some point.

The top picture is a piece of art I made for my oldest daughters new apartment. She actually likes it :)

And here is my desk this chilly grey morning (am so hoping the sun comes out). My 3 art journals waiting to be worked on. I am hoping for a few free minutes today to sit down and do some work but household chores seem to come first lately.

Last week I showed you the top of the built in. This week, the bottom. The above picture is how it usually looks. The below picture is what is hidden in there lol. This is where I hide my stash of book pages, clipboards, cigar boxes, cd cases, and whatever else I have found to alter in some way, shape or form. I love having the built ins but the problem with the bottom one is I forget I have stuff in there :(.

Finally after having to download a new program, I was able to upload my pics for this weeks WOYWW. And yes this week my desk is messy lol I actually have had a few days of card making this week. I made a total of 19 cards in the past week, with much thanks to fellow WOYWW's for posting pics of the cards that they make. Mine aren't as fancy as most but I like them. I promise to post pics later today of them.

Now for the swing around lol In my "craft" room, there is a built in cabinet which is filled to the brim with my albums, and well anything else I can find to put in there. Next week I will take a pic of the bottom of the cabinet :) My oldest daughter always tells me with all the supplies I have I don't need to buy anymore lol I have had myself on a crafting budget for the last few years and really only buy adhesives and such.

guess I got into a card making mood today. must be all the inspiration from looking at fellow WOYWW's blogs. I just used scraps I had on hand and some of my new stamps I have picked up at the thrift stores, the circle stamp above and the big fan on the orange and mauve card. The bottom card was made with one of my SU sets. (will add the name later when I look)

I just couldn't wait to start altering the covers of the sketchbook I showed yesterday. Gessoed last night, will paint today. My oldest daughter went over by my desk and asked "Mom, why do you have a magazine page of a lady laying on a bed?" lol My answer "just don't ask" lol She thinks I'm a little strange to begin with and if I try to explain she just wouldn't get it lol.

swung to the right again. These are my catch all shelves :) The ones I had to rearrange once I got my curtains finished :)

The weather here is absolutely gorgeous, in the 60's for the next few days, and I am taking full advantage by getting out and doing some walking. Yesterday, the Goodwill. Today, the Salvation Army, Wednesday's just about everything is 50 % off and I am looking for some new spring dresses and the youngest daughter needs jeans :) and of course, I can't pass up the housewares section where they keep the crafty stuff lol

Gift card holder that I mad for Stamp Club on friday :)

My first attempt as layering a flower and making it pop off the page.

To show our WOYWW cult leader Julia that yes my hair is really long lol

and my find at the Goodwill today lol There is no date on the bathing suit pattern but the men's clothes patterns are from 1969 and 1972. The sketchbook is going to be taken apart and made into possibly another altered journal lol and I just fell in love with the pompom trim in the little baggie :)
Till tomorrow when I take a pic of my desk (I'm going to do my best to make it messy tonight lol).

Finished Art Journal pages

Took me a few days to get them finished but I did it :) And I am very happy with the result. I'm trying to work more out of my comfort zone and try new things. Can't say techniques cause well I am just sitting there and playing with paint and images and stamps.

See those little birdies at the top right :) Those are part of another set of pages I have started working on. Seems I do more work in my art journal lately than anything else. I still have a card to make for next weeks Stamp Club meeting :) My cousin says I always wait till the last minute but I always come up with something creative. We will see lol

Well I am off to enjoy some much needed peace and quiet, only the oldest and I are home and I am thinking of getting us a movie to watch.

Welcome to another WOYWW hosted by our fearless leader Julia over at Stamping Ground. Be sure to pop on over there to be nosey haha and check out everyone elses desks this week. Make sure you have something to eat or drink cause you will be sitting at your computer for a while :) There is actually stuff on my desk this week. Mind you, it didn't get there till yesterday afternoon because well my mojo had left the building and did not see fit to return till yesterday :) The journal page you see is inspired by Miss Donna Downey Simply Me. The link brings you to last weeks Inspiration Wednesday's post. The album I am working in was also inspired by her but I can't find the original to share. But she was using newspaper as her base and going from there :)

Up above my desk I have a pegboard filled with alot of my stickers (I really need to start using them), misc. foam stamps and such. On the wire shelf I have cute little baskets and such holding all kinds of who knows what (been a while since I looked around in them).

This will be the right page that goes with the one on top. I made the little heart with molding paste, paint, gems and SU's Crystal Effects. I will be sure to post a pic when it is done.

Here is the front cover of the album. It is made with canvas that I sewed and painted and added stuff to. The beautiful stamp and the person is from a big Ali Edwards set that I bought a good while back.

Here is the back cover, kinda plain lol but when I made them I didn't know what I wanted to put on it. Maybe soon I will get an idea lol

Off to mundane household stuff until later :) I have told my oldest daughter that we are walking up to the Salvation Army later today, I'm hoping to find some things to use for my crafting :)

Well here is my desk for yet another edition of WOYWW. Be sure to click on the picture to the right to go to Miss Julia (our fearless leader)'s page and check out all of the desks :) Not much going on mine today, yet. Spent this am paying bills YUCK!!

Also included is the under right hand of my desk. This is storage for my SU stamps, markers and down bottom is miscellaneous tools like punches, my labeler, dremel etc. Oh and you can also see the corner of my very first issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. Loving it so much I treated myself to a subscription.

And here is another art journalling page. I used my stash of MM scrapbooking paints and on the right page I painted with my fingers lol.

That's about it for today. Gloomy here in New England, woke up to more snow, wth, I want spring.

I'm so embarrassed to post this picture lol What started out as a good idea turned into the ugliest teddy bear I have ever seen. Now that I have made this for the grandbaby, my youngest wants me to make him one with flames on it, ummm really now haha. I'm gonna give it another try and hope it comes out better. I don't know how this one came out so misshapen when before it was sewn it look perfect lol
Off to undertake the huge task of cleaning up the basement so I can clean out the storage area I have been using since April of 2006 (I'm tired of paying them so much money to hold my stuff--I want my stuff lol).

Skirts :)

This one was originally a long skirt that I got at the Goodwill. But I cut it to use for another project and just decided to make a short skirt with what was left.

Old pair of Dickies white painter pants. Hard to see but in the v I used the leg part from a pair of black jeans. I have to do some more work on this one, I didn't measure haha and the back sticks out way too much lol.

I think this is my favorite one. Notice more fabric from 1st skirt above.

A little bit shorter one to wear with leggings.

I am also almost finished with the teddy bear but I am a little embarrassed to post a pic. I think it is ugly lol We will see when it is all the way done. I also have 1 more skirt to make but I am tired of sewing at the moment lol so, will be taking a break to work on this months Stamp Club project- a gift card holder or money holder.

My 1st ever blog award

Even though it took me 3 days to see it, I have received my first ever blog award :) from Miss Virginia over at Celtic House.

I have to pass it on also. So here you go ladies :)

Now I have to list 10 things that make me happy:

1) coffee

2) seeing my kids smile

3) texts from far away friends

4) sunshine

5) cooking and baking for my kiddos

6) my grand daughters smiles and coos

7) friends that love me even if I am different lol

8) discovering blogs with beautiful pictures

9) 1 to 2 hour phone calls with my sister

10) projects that I thought were going to be difficult but proved to be easy

Wow, that was a bit harder than I thought. Granted just because I put coffee lol as #1 doesn't mean it is #1 on my list, I just put them as I thought of them. I have had maybe 1/2 hours sleep in the last 24 so it is a bit difficult to think straight at the moment.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. We are in the middle of a snow storm that has stalled over our region. It is gorgeous out there right now but I am so tired of this winter wonderland lol

Late posting my pics today. We have gotten slammed by a lovely (insert sarcastic tone) snow storm here and well I was busy shoveling earlier.
But anyway here are the pics of my desk that I took this morning.

Stood a big farther back this time. I have so much going on and it all has ended up on the desk.

Closeup. Still working on yoyo's, baby's teddy bear, haha have my nail polish sitting there too. Hopefully by next wednesday nothing will be on there lol Well, not these projects anyway.

Since I did a swing the last two times I decided to go to the left and down a bit. The left underneath of my desk is where I store all my paper. Top shelf is 8.5x11 and 6x6. Bottom is 12x12. In the milk crate is my stash of magazines, it is full to the brim and HEAVY!!! The jeans sitting in the pile are going to be made into skirts (well, I hope so anyway lol).

Keeping busy

When lil one was born my sister sent flowers, this cute plastic flower bowl is what is left lol Well, I needed something prettier to store my loose flowers in :) so, I added 2 rows of lace, beading and stick some miscellaneous flowers together to make a big pretty one.

And wahla a totally new and cute flower storage :)

I am attempting to make a mini-skirt out of a very long skirt I bought at the local Goodwill a couple years ago. Have it all pinned, I just need to find time to sit at the machine and get to it.

I decided that lil one needed a handmade stuffed bear :) My mom made all her grandkids monkey dolls, I'm not that patient lol! So, I'm making this. Will post pics when it is done.

Just had to share the card we made at Stamp Club on friday night :) I think it is so cute. Alas, it is not staying here with me, it will be buzzing off soon to someone special :)

Well we have snow in the forecast from today till friday so I won't be outside much. Plan on staying in where it is warm and toasty :) Will be back soon with pics of finished projects and who knows what else.

These are some more of the older ones I have done. I had planned on doing some work in there this weekend but well I never got to it. I'm basically learning as I go lol I don't know alot of techniques and I am still trying to conquer my fear of being messy haha. But I am getting there.
Well back to sewing yoyo's for my curtains because although I really like them, they blend into the walls and need a little something extra.
Kiddos go back to school tomorrow so I am hoping I have a little more "me" time to work on my projects.

Art Journal pages and a card

Trying my hand at art journalling again. The next 2 photos are of my newest pages. I'm trying to learn that I can be MESSY!! and not everything has to be neat and orderly haha

Here is a card I whipped up this afternoon (took me a whole 10 minutes lol) for my Stamp Club meeting tomorrow night. Yes, I usually wait till the last minute.

Remnants of curtain decorating :) and the pile of books was on the right side but had to move them last night when I was looking for something haha

I swung to the right this time. Stamp pads, stamp storage and well just a big old mess.

3rd and final curtain. Next, I will post a pic of them hung up on the windows. My cousin asked me if I had used a template to do the letters and I said no, I did it all on my own lol The flowers (minus the leaves) are an Ali Edwards stamp. I had bought a set of her big foam stamps and finally have started using them.
Off to move some stuff around in here so I can get curtains hung.

Latest project :)

Watch out, now that I have begun to use the sewing machine, I think I will be sewing alot more. Decided the windows in the craft room needed some sprucing up. Dug through my stash of material and started on them over the weekend. A few days of sewing, a few days of painting. Yes, you read that right painting.

And this is what I have so far. I have one left to do (will be done today). I love how they are coming out. I have made curtains before but usually it is just find the material, pin it and then sew. This time it was find the material, liner included, take my time, and measure so they are all the same length, and sew.

I have also been making yoyo's. I am thinking of adding some to the curtains, not sure yet. They are so easy to make.

Just a quick project update. Will be back when curtains are done.

Not much going on. Mail, a card from my oldest :), a future project and some ATC's I received from a swap on the yahoo group I belong too.

Grand baby has been a bit fussy the past few days :( and moma and I have been taking turns trying to get her settled.

Wow two posts in one day, I'm on a roll. I'm on baby duty while daughter spends a few hours with friends that are moving out of state. So, I'm surfing some of the sites that I have saved in my favorites, and some were altered art, some scrapbooking. I have started an art journal but have not gotten very far in it :( I have a drawing journal in my nightstand, which doesn't get used much because, well, I can't draw. I can see the picture in my head and oh man it is perfect in every way, but when it comes to putting it on paper, NOPE!!!! And then, I just bought a mini sketchbook to use as another art journal. But, I have begun to understand why I am NOT getting very far in any of my journals!!!!
I AM AFRAID TO BE MESSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my crafting and well pretty much in all aspects of my life, everything must be clean and a certain way or it irritates me. I never used to be like this, I was a messy messy girl LOL Now, even my kids comment that I won't let them do anything because if it isn't done a certain way I am just going to go back and fix it myself. How do I get out of this habit in my crafting???? I so want to be a messy art journaller. I want to make messy pages and not have them look neat and pristine.
Ok I had to get that out, it was really bothering me.

For a few years now I have wanted to be able to bind my own books. It just seems that I would have way more possibilities and adventures if I could. Well, being a single mom, I kind of have to watch my pennies and where they go. So, instead of just buying a machine and figuring out how to cover the cost, I am going to save up for one. And the kicker is right now Zutter is having a special 2010 Kickoff Special, sweet, sweet deal.
Also, I have wanted an instant camera for probably the same few years. Even asked my oldest daughter for one for Christmas. She got me a crockpot instead :) I was tweeting earlier and one of the people I follow had RT a post from https://twitter.com/creaturecomfort for a Fujifilm Instax Mini on her Creature Comforts blog. Not one to pass up a giveaway, yup I entered. I have seen so many amazing projects made with instant pictures and since Polaroids are pretty much obsolete, I like the Fujifilm Instax.
Also in my world right now LOL I picked happiness as my One Little Word for 2010. Today my youngest daughter and I went up to Family Dollar to pick up a few things and I found a plaque with the Chinese symbol for happiness. Yes, it came home with me and is hanging above my desk. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
I am off to take care of mundane household chores lol and then try to get to work on my latest sewing project. No, not trying to figure out how to read a pattern haha, the drapes that are being made into curtains.

Sensory Overload

With being a SAHM I have alot of time on my hands. Sometimes it is a good thing, others not so good. I spend my mornings surfing the web and well I see soooo much and my brain is on overload lately because I have so many ideas rolling around in my head. The picture below are sewing patterns (obviously haha) that I want to use. Problem-- I have never followed a pattern before. Well I did in HS but that was many moons ago and I have forgotten how. I really want to make the dresses for Springtime (if it ever gets here) and the other ones are just so cute I want to make them for the grand baby :)

I made this for my sister to use in her office :) Stamps are SU and I made the push pins with odds and ends I had on my desk.

I have belonged to the same online scrapbooking loop for about 11 years (love those ladies) and decided to issue a page a day challenge for February. This is my first page. I am bound and determined to get caught up on Our Christmas album.

A thank you card for a sweet lady that sent us a care package from La. Needed my cajun cooking fix lol

My newest project will be to fix these drapes and hang them. They were given to me by my landlady but I don't have drapery hooks and well they just wouldn't have fit on the windows anyway. We have 4 windows and there are only 5 panels. So, I sat down last night and took out all the darts. Next I will add maybe some ribbon or ricrac to spruce them up a little.

Off to make more coffee, today will be a long day for me, and I need all the caffeine I can get haha

My new baby

She isn't pretty but to me she is the best :) The cabinet is in super shape too :). Now if I can just figure out how to follow a pattern I will be all set lol I know how to sew curtains, blankets, pillows and well that is about it. I have a pattern that I picked up at the thrift store for a sundress and well I want to make it, I just don't know how :( Guess, I should have paid attention in Home Ec class lol
I am in the process of trying to organize some of my craft stuff to make room for the new baby haha Man, I have ALOT of stuff and it seems that no matter how much I go through, weed out and throw away, I still have ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Shelving installed

Well yesterday was spent putting up adjustable wire shelving and reorganizing some of my craft supplies :) Still have more to organize, but at least I made a start :) And yes I do realize I have ALOT of stuff lol Still on my no buying anything new for 2010 except adhesives and my monthly SU stamp club commitment :)

Todays thoughts

I needed to come here and post some thoughts that have been going through my mind today.

Last night I received news that a dear, sweet friend had passed away. I texted my best friend (a coworker and friend of his (more so than I)) to tell her, if she needed my help with anything at all, to call me. Later came the phone call, asking me to make a commemorative plaque per say to hang over the kitchen door at the Crossroads Cafe`. Why?? Because I am the crafty one of us friends. So, now I embark on a journey to make a plaque in memory of a very special man, and I am so, so nervous. I will put my heart in it though and it will be special and my way of helping his memory to live on in the hearts of everyone he touched.

***edited 12/18/09*** This is what I came up with for the plaque. I just need to put a hanger on the back and a few coats of polyurethane. Then it will be delivered to the Crossroads where it will hang for hopefully many years to come.

Weighing on my mind

The pictures above are of all Christmas scrapbooking supplies. This year I was going to do a December Daily album, so I gathered everything Christmassy, picked out an album to use and even started it. Then, I saw pictures of others albums and got very discouraged. Not that I don't get inspiration from others or like what I eventually come up with. But, I am using supplies I have had for a long time (yes I am a hoarder, just ask my oldest daughter lol).
   With that said, I will say what has been weighing on my mind (just to get it down and off my mind). I belong to a stamp group that meets once a month. I love these ladies, lol they are the bees knees :) We have a project every month that goes with a theme, each lady makes one and brings it and the hostess gets all the goodies :) Last month was tags, any kind (but I think most did Christmas). What did I do, I dug through my stash and came up with one using a beer coaster, some way outdated paper and other findings. Everyone loved it. But we got into a discussion about how with the cricut and other new products there aren't too many people that still use light tables and such for dry embossing and stuff like that. HA, I still use my light table, I do NOT own a cricut nor will I. Not that I wouldn't love to have one but I can't justify spending that kind of money on myself.
   I do not have all the latest gadgets, the latest papers or cute little albums. I use what I have to make my scrapbooks and other art. About the only product I have bought lately is some papers for my grand daughters album. Not that I am whining because I can't go out and buy the newest products, I am just stating that some of us aren't able to go out and do that, so we use what we have. I have put myself on a very strict budget when it comes to my crafts, I am only allowed to fulfill monthly stamp club fee (we order $20 worth of product a month) and adhesives. That is it. Until the time comes when I am down to hardly any paper or embellies or whatever, that is how it will be, I will not go buy paper just because I think it is cute and need it in my stash, or the latest cute little embellies just cause they are on sale, I will use what I have and come up with ideas to fully utilize ALL this stuff I have accumulated in the 11 years I have been scrapbooking and crafting.
   Phew, I feel better now.

Altered journal outside. I'm thinking I might use this to do some scrapbook pages of me when I was younger. I used a piece of a skirt I found at Goodwill to make the cover. Below is the inside of the above. And the little lace doilie with beads and a butterfly will be going on the outside.

Some pages in one of my art journals. Have done much more than this with it though.

Also working on Baby Shower stuff but I can't post pics yet, cause then Char will see the pics on the computer and find out what I am doing lol

So many ideas have been going on in my head lately and I just can't find the time or energy to do them all :(

With planning Chars baby shower (she doesn't read my blogs so I can post it here lol) I want to make a banner like the one above that says Welcome Harmonii.
Then while finding embellishments for the banner I came up with another project using lace and beads. Along with pages in my art journal, onesies to decorate for Harmonii, and album for Harmonii, swap projects :) I would have to say that my mojo has returned. Thank you Lord for giving me this creative outlet.
Off to enjoy some peace and quiet before Dale gets up for school, Char gets up for work training, and my walk to the bread store.

I was given a new desk :) So I had to move things around yet again. I am also getting a set of wire shelves to go over the desk area :) Just have to wait for them to be installed.

A Messy Desk and a new project

This is what my desk looks like at the moment. I dug out the embroidery thread I had on hand to start a few new projects. One of which is in the picture below. I found the link to the pattern, ages ago on Elsie's blog http://www.abeautifulmess.typepad.com/. It was a free pattern on flickr (sorry can't get link to work for me). I have had this white sweatshirt forever, the zipper is broke, the cuffs are all messed up BUT I love that sweatshirt. So, I decided to give it some work lol I'm going to embroider the design on the back and then use embroidery thread to fix the cuffs.

I also have a t-shirt that got stained when #1 daughter dyed her hair. I drew my own design on that and will also do some embroidery on it. So, hopefully soon I will have finished photos to share.
That is if I can ever finish the baby shower invites lol (they are amongst the mess on the desk).

Inspired

Yesterday I was sitting in my room thinking "I need some inspiration." Every project I looked at I just didn't have the umph to work on lol So, hopped on the computer for a bit and found some inspiration over at http://creativetherapy.wordpress.com/ And here is what I came up with for catalyst nineteen. Journalling reads "I can't seem to go to sleep unless I have a big mug of chocolate milk and saltines w/ peanut butter. The kids laugh at me and tell me I'm weird. I might be but at least I'm getting to sleep." I used a piece of cardboard and found items I had laying around. I gesso'd and then painted part of the background and cut out a lil hole. I have to say that this is way far from my usual layout but I totally love it :) Thank you to the ladies over at http://creativetherapy.wordpress.com/ I will definetly be checking back often and participating more :)

And then I finished up Nicole's b'day album from last year. (I know bad mommy)And Dale made this card for his cousin Joey :) He loves using my stamps and stuff :)Not much going on in the craft room today :( I started cleaning stuff out last night so I can hopefully get organized and well I kinda made a mess lol So after the b'day party we are going to I will hopefully get that finished up and then get back to some crafting :)

After purchasing rechargeable batteries and a new memory card :) My old camera is working again (zoom doesn't work but I can live with that lol) So here are some pics of stuff I have been working on lately.

My 2 pages for ENJOY : PAPER08: Operation 03 : What's Next? I still have to catch up on my other Operations :) Hopefully today or soon.The first page of my Everday Moments album. I actually altered the tag I took off a pair of jeans for this :) I love how it came out. I take so many pictures and some times there are those that just don't really go with a theme or I don't have a certain album to put them in so I decided to start this album.Still need to catch up onOverlooked subjects and also *e* . I have gotten behind with everything lately :( Hope to do some catching up.

I have my pages done for last weeks ENJOY : PAPER08 operation and also got caught up on my art journal journey prompts over at *e*. But I only have pics (crappy cell phone ones) of my art journal journey atc cards.

I hope to have pics of my pages later (need to find char's camera lol)

I have also been scrapping again :) YAY ME!!!!!! and hope to add pics of those pages too. I decided I would start yet another album " Everday Moments" and have a few pages done and a few pages in the works for that album. It feels good to be scrapping again and not just altering everything lol

In the last couple of weeks I have gone to the local thrift stores and had way too much fun finding stuff to alter and use in my projects :) Here is a pic of some of the cool things I have found.

Ok all I am off to start waking kids up for school and drinking more coffee :)

Doing my usual surfing of fave blogs this am (my usual daily weekday routine when I have to be up at 5:25 am) and came across this post *e*: 2008 art journal journey! on Emily Falconbridges blog. I had so wanted to take her class at Big Picture Scrapbooking but missed out due to other financial responsibilities. So alas I am going to join in on her art journal journey :) I have an art journal in progress just no pics to show :(
I really need to figure out what kind of camera I want and save up for it :) That way I can share photos and NOT have to use the girls cameras :)

Well here is my first post finally. Had to wait to get pics taken of my newest endeavor before I posted.

I decided that this year I would join in on a couple challenges and found these two that interested me ENJOY : PAPER08 & Overlooked. I figured with these I don't have to churn out a million pages in a year and I can pretty much work at my own pace (which lately is like a turtle haha)
